Is there a particular time of year to buy a new HVAC system and get the best pricing? Any particular brand have great rebates or anything right now or coming up? Obviously I know before Dec when the tax credit runs out.

thanks!

Beginning 4/15/10, Rheem will have a $600 rebate on 15 SEER HP, and $1000 rebate on 16 SEER HP. Both qualify for tax credit.

Seems like York had similar or better rebates in that time frame. However, they also extended similar rebates on high end DFHP systems into the summer. Check their web sites. They usually have a link something like "Seasonal Promotions" that describe their rebates.

By the way, my York rebate was worth more than the tax credit after I got two of the IAQ units and a good quality tstat that were required.

Good point! Been straggling along with poor A/C .. not sure if we'll make it this year plus I want to do something anyway before the tax credit expires. However one of my local dealers is stating I need to do something before March ends to take advantage of some off-season warehouse deals they have. Trying to figure out if it's BS or not. thanks!

Bs. But get your audit, hlhg, and equipment plan done now and pull the trigger before it gets hot and everyone is busy.

Deals like that aren't always BS,but they would be locally,so we wouldn't know!

If you don't believe them, you don't trust them enough to buy from them,IMHO.

This question should be referred to your tax accountant or any other questions about any tax credits. He/she may be the best qualified person to answer any tax credit questions

Here's a link to an article that I noticed recently on one of the Social Media sites: http://articles.moneycentral.msn.com/SavingandDebt/SaveMoney/TheBestTimeToBuyAnything.aspx

In my own area, I would say December or February, the latter being the slowest month (and shortest) with revenue. There are many Contractors (granted some good/some bad) doing a system changeout for little more than the FPL (Florida Power & Light) Rebate.

^^^ what he said.

Do it when time is on your side. That way you can find the good contractors and hopefully avoid the peak times when everyone is swamped.

When work is slow you'll also have a better chance at getting a quality install with the components you want and with the good contractors.

And I hope to convey that rushing your decision to save a few hundred clams is really short sighted.

This is a large investment that you only want to make once every 15-20 years. Take your time, learn about the opportunities to improve the house and get really efficient comfort.

Get it wrong and that couple hundred bucks you rushed to save will be much regretted.

I save my customers 30-70% on their energy bills, not the ones who rush. How do you think that story helps sell a house?

Your real savings opportunity is in reducing your energy cost for the next 15-20 years and dramatically improving comfort and control.

Around here it seems the biggest rebtes and promotions happen in the late spring just before it gets hot and in the late fall just before it gets cold. I imagine its just marketing as once its freezing cold if you need a new furnace you're buying sale or not.
