Working on an AO Smith Burkay copper coil boiler. I need to remove lime scale deposit from it, delta T was way off, someone closed mixing valve and thermal shock ect. My problem is with finding descaling solution that AO Smith recommends using, its called Un-Lime. This of coarse is an AO Smith product, but it seams they have stopped distributing it. None of my supply houses can recommend a product like it. Does anyone know of a brand scale removing solution that is safe to use with a domestic hot water boiler?

Try Rydlyme, I have used it on mixing valves and it worked great.

Rydlyme works great, and is safe.
It is my understanding that Trane Parts carries it.

I was once told by a very good water treatment guy that they use standard scale remover, the nasty stuff that you use in condensers. They do this because whatever you use, you will flush it out totally and so there is nothing left in it for anyone to drink. He said the foodgrade stuff is going to take forever to clean it if at all. So I hired the guy and everything was fine.

As long as you disconnect the boiler from the domestic loop, run a high acid based descaler thru it. Flush it with a neutralizing solution, verify PH and put it back in service.
Those safe descalers do work but are expensive, and take longer for good results.
I call my guy at W.E.T. and he sets me up with the product best suited for the job.
Good Luck
