Large centrifugal backward curve supply air fan. Do we lock in the the driven side bearing obviously closest to pulley, and let the other end float or what????

The inner race of ALL bearing needs to be locked down securely to shaft. Not doing so will allow the shaft to turn inside the inner race and wear down the shaft in short order.

In that application the driven end should have the collar.

lock it all in...there are bearing systems available if you have a very long shaft and there is a concern of shaft length growth.

do i get to share in the wealth?

This is the way Dodge says to do it.
