moving to charlotte, or would really like to but having some trouble. I live in ne pa and am union. I currently take home 29.92 an hour with a lot of benefits. I am a journeyman of 7 years with 13 yrs. total experience. When looking into this move, I discovered alot of positions but really poor salaries, I mean 10-14 an hour....does anyone know if this is really the typical salary or if I 'm just looking in the wrong place? I am registered with all the major site including hvacagent, careerbuilder, charlotte jobs, etc and can find nothing to equal or come close to my compensation. Am I stuck in pa forever???

Welcome.
Do a serch on wages on this site in the General discussion forum.
Speak with a union rep to see if they have need of your services in the area you wish to move to.

Search for the thread; "where do you all live". It will give names and cities. Well ... so will "wages" thread.

If need more help, just post again.

In Charlotte you can make 16.00 to 30.00 with a commercial outfit if you have the experience. If you don't do the commercial thing, 10.00 to 18.00 is what you're looking at.

My now deceased cousin lived in n.c. & he was a foreman for a large contractor that did govt.renovations which by law bound them to pay prevailing wage. The pay was so poor he quit & opened up a few pawn shops where he made much better money.

We will be very interested in talking to you about a service technician job in Charlotte. We are not union, not aware of any residential & light commercial company in Charlotte that is.

Send me your resume, I will review and get back in touch.

i'm making the move to charlotte end of this week. you can make over 18 in res. i talked to one union comm place, I wasn't what they where currentely looking for(no comm exp) but in talking to them there are only 3-4 union places in the area. the union is not as big as it is in the northeast. for res, i got a good raise. what you are making you won't make in res, enless you work for a place with a lot of commision, and want to deal with that stuff. good luck to you.
