Basically i want more money.

Love this field and all aspects of it––29, been thru school and in the field since i was 18. Currently employed as a senior technician and have got the itch to try something new.

The company i work at is very segregated in terms of service, install, sales dept etc and i don't think a promotion is really an option. (or maybe it is?)

How can i break into sales or controls without having any experience?

I tried to get into sales but I couldn't convince my company or any other to give me a chance. It seems they would rather hire a used car salesman with sales experience. Good luck. I will check that web site.

Want more money? Work more overtime.

You're going to have a hard time getting both the opportunity/experience you need and a raise. You may not be able to do it at the company you work for.

If you can get your employer to provide you with the tools you need for sales, you may be able to prove yourself by landing some work off the clock.

What's your relationship with your current employer? Can you talk to them and tell them you want to grow your career to a higher level? Tell them you feel like you've hit a ceiling and you would like to grow both professionally and financially.
If you are just after more money short term (next 3-6 months) then work more overtime. If your willing to 'prove' your worth by taking on more/another responsibility then approach your employer and if it looks to be working out negotiate in a review after 6 months of taking on your new responsibilities.
Interesting as I was in a very similar situation overall. Service tech then our controls person just up and left and I got the job, then I hit a ceiling there and decided it was time to move on.
