The company I work for does HVAC for a major supermarket chain. They have Comtrol energy management systems. I have learned how to graph the hvac systems, but I know these systems can do a lot more. How can I get some training on this system? Any help would be appreciated. Thank You in advance!

the way i learned com-trol was to install one and figure it out the hard way. the manuals on all controllers are kinda vague. best learning tool was a demo cd i got. you can play all u want on it and figure it out that way.

All the HVAC controls are fairly self-explanatory so trying everything out is probably going the be the quickest way to learn them.

ComTrol tasks are "boxed". They do not have the flexibility of say an E2. So as you learn HVAC, Suction, Temp/Defr, Condenser, tasks, etc. You will have a good understanding of them across the board.
I have also found with ComTrol that there always seems to be "glitches" or exceptions where ever you look. Its a pain in the a$$ to figure them out. They don't let you know about certain issues until you call tech support. Many times they don't even know about them.
But if you keep that in mind you will be an "expert" in ComTrol in no time!!!

The pound with one finger gets old. Look in your book or online and buy the the serial or usb connector to interface the 4K or 5K to your laptop, download the ezset software
(http://www.tac.com/us/Navigate?node=9550)
and it seems easier than searching through the display menu.

Or try this thread

If you still have more questions I can dig out my book, but right now I'm sitting my fat A$$ in the easy chair and am very comfortable...

I looked up an old post:

In the above mentioned post I placed this link:
then go to page 33 that should help"

Good luck

I have not worked with comtrol in 10 years. The only customer I had that used it was Safeway. It isnt a bad system but it is not user freindly. I found it easier to do some tasks directlt off the boards by manupilating the switches. If I remember it correctly the 6k diud not allow the user to do much beyond observerviung temps and pressures all actual tasks you needed to go to the 4k to perform them. I am not even sure if Comtrol still is in buiness. Seems like danfoss and cpc pretty much dominate the market at this point.

At the the 6K you can graph up to 4 things at once to give you a lot of info. Comtrol is definitely not my favorite, now with the CWEB, but the 6K gives you a lot of good info.
