Have A friend of mine getting ready to Re-ramp up a product he designed and patented and trade maked years ago! Pretty cool setup!

Think he calls it COOL FREE! basiclly for colder climates, it is a fan and blower setup with thermostats, that goes thru the cooler walls and shuts down the refrigerant circuit and uses outdoor air to keep the cooler cool. reported cost savings is unreal!

he is about done with his website and when it is Ill post up a link for some of you!

This one has been on the market for some time... http://www.freeaire.com/ ...so he'll have some established competition out there.

We had a thread on free cooling for walk-ins a couple of years back:
http://hvac-talk.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=131940

Read my posts and you'll see I'm not sold on the concept. ;)

In my area these are only allowed in liquor stores as they do not require food inspector visits.

I have had the honor of knowing the gentleman that designed Cool Free for over 30 years. In fact, I sold some of the very first units that were ever installed. This was done in Michigan and as far as I know all of the units are still in operation. In answer to one post, the thermostats will not allow the cooler to become too cold and humidity has never been a problem. Most health departments have no problem with Cool Free. The product known as Free Aire is several times the cost of Cool Free, with no greater benefits. Energy conservation products and services are the basis of my business. I will be meeting with the inventor Monday/Tuesday(3/15-16/10) I know this product and it was a winner over 30 years ago, it will be a force in responsible energy reduction in the proper geographical locations of North America and Europe as well. Feel free to contact me via email as I plan to help Cool Free acheive the status it deserves in any way Mr. Van Kirk wishes.
