Goodman gds80703axbb 07 model..goes like this ,I get a call ,unit is downflow in closet and is in lockout. I retry, everything cycles perfect an then there burners drop out suspect flame sensor, cleaned it real good,,no go.checked voltage on ground,(1.6v)Had a look at the board, burnt spot on it,changed board an it worked fine advised owner maybe he should have an electrician out to find why i have voltage on my ground(only 1.6 volts but still..next day he is there an verifies(uh huh) that Theres NO voltage anymore,) . 2-3 weeks later, tennent calls gas company with odor issues.Gas comp says it has a bad auto shut off and need more combustion air. OK,lets remove the red tag and get to work,Added 4x10 high an lo combustion air.,,changed gemini gas valve, which was fine anyways, turned out to be the MANUAL shut off that was leaking slightly...Oh well glad it was under warranty.Dont like changing parts I dont have to,I dont want to be classified as a parts changer, but if the gas company says do it an i didnt ..eww if something bad happened. So as the plot thickens,2 weeks go by, an now there burners are dropping out again. New board, new valve, good pressure, combustion air,..I'll check in the morning. At 9 a.m. Any suggestions would be helpful, and appreciated. maybe the new moister air got my flame sensor this time..or a t-stat issue,,if its the board ,then whats makin them go bad?
thanks for any help,
Bill

hey cynic,
if your gonna suggest what to check "after" you say no DIY
why don't you first start with a safety lesson explaning how dangerous this could get

I edited my post for you.
What I meant was test the parts before replacing and cleaning them. Esp. if you hate replacing parts that dont need to be replaced. Like the <widget> before testing it? Then I guess I went on too get a little more detailed then I should have.
As far as danger.....If someone gets hurt checking the devices I mentioned in my earlier now edited post. Well thats darwin at his finest :)

Get-cool's profile says he is an HVAC professional and his post does not read like a DIYer.
Get-cool, you need to get at least 15 non technical posts under your belt and then apply for professional status where we can discuss this sort of thing in professionals only forums.
Welcome to H-Talk. Sorry your first posting hit resistance.

Thank you very much Mr. Robo. An whatever was edited I never had a chance to see anyways mr cyn. But thanks anyways. The good news is,he met me in the front yard yesterday to tell me his wife was a worry wart (crack, maybe?) but that it was fine and had been since he got home from work an turned it on...ah ha..ok lets ask him,did you turn the power off an back on ? no ,well, that means it wasnt locked out ,I went on in an looked at it, solid red lled,,cycled it a few time, its fine . I'd like to add,the only concern I have about this unit now is I did not install it,and its power supply is coming from a wall outlet.Asked to dedicate it ,no go. Im going to try for 1500 posts. An as far as the other guys on the welcoming commitee,I been crawling since I was 16 years old,(1991) ive been a Nc state certified tech since 2000, an my # is NC-7142. I asked the question based on what a landlord had been told by a tennant,an was like WTF...I just joined but I've read a bit on this site in the past. Normally I wouldnt have time to post a service prob ,but i got this call in the eve,an you cant get 15 if you dont post the 1st.

Well , the unit had been red tagged by the gas company, who in writing said,"the auto shut off(gas valve) is leaking by. An combustion air needed..I may have only joined a few days ago,but ive read a wealth of info on here,I checked out an ARS type company on here before deciding not to take a job in FLA. tho Id love to be there..,Alot about gemini gas valves an the probs they had,That combined with the red tag,I was scared not to change it. Anyways, I didnt get to read your unedited post, but im sure it may have had some worthwhile suggestions. Thanks anyways.
