Can any of you JCI pros explain the difference between the:
XP-9104-8004 EXPANSION MODULE (I know it is a 4DI by 4DO)
and...
XT-9100-8204 ??????
I have a customer with a panel construction of (1) DX 9100 (2) XP 9104 and
(1) XT 9100 extension module.
I understand the purpose of the XP Expansion modules but not the XT module. The JCI submittal drawings indicate the points being used on the
DX 9100 and the XP 9104 modules. There is no information or points associated with the EXTENSION module.
Whats the difference between the EXPANSION and EXTENSION ????

Good day LocoMike,
The XT modules provide the interface to the N2 bus or the XT bus (on the DX9100), whereas the XP modules only have the actual I/O on them and an interface to the XT module. So, in order to use the XP modules with a DX9100 or the N2 bus you must have the XT module.
For more info, go to the JCI website and look for document LIT-6364040 (XT-9100 Technical Bulletin). This document explains this quite well.
Cheers,
Sam

THANKS SAM !!!
I have many years of Controls and Chiller experience but the DX 9100 is a beast of it's own LOL.
I really appreciate the help and path to the literature.

The XT module is slaved to DX9100, alone the XT does not ride on the N2 bus, it’s on a local bus dedicated to the master controller. Basically for every 2 XP modules, one XT module is required. The address system is to the master controller and does not affect the N2 bus system; therefore they should be addressed in the 345s and not fitted in the 100s. Slow response can be accelerated with lower address numbers.

THANKS to everyone for all of your expert help.
I just want to be clear on the last statement. I now have (2) XP's and (1) XT.
If I am to add another XP which would total (3), then I would need a second XT ?
Unfoutunately, I am one analog input short for the modification of the existing panel and I need to add an XP to read that one extra analog input.

Yes you would need to add an XT.
Unless, the two XPs are the 4 relay type. In which case you could add the AI XP without another XT. But, the AI XP always needs to be in position XP1. Refer to the jci XT-9100 manual.
