Harvest issues,Error # 3=longer then 15 sec below 85 ' in harvest...

Clean evap. and for the age of the machine fairly clean..now for the vitals
S# 970361862

Water cooled

Freeze cycle....Start..220'/10' end 320'/-10'......s/h =34'@0' @comp.....
harvest= 32'/150

I know on scottsman the water temp discharge should be 100'/105'
Does this apply for a manit also....
In harvest the water reg. does not leak....so if I adjust for 100' water temp. Head shoots through the roof.(380'/400).and freeze takes for ever...

Question....on MOST service vaulves (head) It is down stream from the cond.
On this machine in is up stream!!!No vaulve after cond...

This is where I left the machine after 7 hrs.....Water reg. wide open:eek2:Head @ 250'/10'.....head rises and suction drops 310'/-10'....
Weighed in chg....
When the head gets to 310' I can remove the TXV and warm it in my hands and the head drops to 210 buuut the suction raises to 25' and slows the freeze and slowly drops
S/C Temp @ TXV 34'

I left with about 6 Harvest and i desent looking cube....Some time maybe I should bring my laptop on a service call and log into HVAC-TALK 7 HRS on 1 Peice of machine HAVE MERCY.....Anyone been there:anyone: Need some help guys.....Some time you want to tell em' to get a new one but I want to figure this thing out....THANX in advance....nichvac

If I am understanding post. In freeze you're suction drops to -10psi? If that is the case it sounds like you have a bad txv. The suction should never drop into a vacuum. It sounds like the txv is clamping off,and when you warm it up it starts to open back up. I would order new txv and replace.

I agree. Sounds like the sensing bulb is loosing pressure.

Metering device for sure - if it's not at the right saturation - did you check your amp draw on your compressor & the defrost solenoid temp in and out !

tnbass: in freeze suction temp is 10 degrees and falls to -10 degrees at end of freeze.

What is suction pressure at beginning and end of freeze?

begin suction 43psi end suction 23psi. water reg wide open.
head pressure 350psi

According to the mannual the suction pressure seems within specs, but the head pressure should be set for 230 psi. If the water valve is wide open and you have 350psi I would check incoming water temp, and heck for a restriction in the condensor.

water discharge temp? rule of thumb is 100 degree. if ice forms evenly I would second guess txv and check cond. and or contaminates.

went back today and ck'd....bin full of ice however....Head was still @ 350 psi and suction @ 40 psi ( 10'). Im still leaning toward TXV presure drops when you wrap your hand on it...my question is if it is a bad txv can my head be high and my suction be ok...I beleive my cond is not rest. at the txv with the reg. wide open I have appox. 37' with the head @ lets say 130' I have 100' s/c Is that right, see thats where it gets funky..measuring head temp at the service vaule right off comp how can you get correct s/c.........high head!!!!!on a water cooled cond...has to b the txv......non- cond.????I recovered and weighed in 26 oz...

Sounds like the same one I had a problem with. It's over-charged it thats why the head is so high. I bet if you "dumped" the charge then weighed in the correct amount your problems would continue. Your suction psi is low and should be higher to begin with. I went through this a few yrs ago and it was the txv. (40 psi is low at the begining should be around 70 then drop)

Just got finished with the same problems.Change the txv, I just didn't want to blame it ,1st one on a icemachine I have ever had to replace.

Txv replacement on equipment seems to be more common today than years ago. I remember when I first started in this trade, if you condemed a txv, the svc manager looked at you like you were stupid, now I have valves in the truck. Made in China :patriot:

was gonna recover, triple evac, then re-charge but I mite as will chg txv while i am in there....let ya knoe 2marrow thanx guys::CU:

Just guessing but I think this one would be obvious if it was air cooled.
There is no where to go in the high side on the water cooled even with the dinky copper spun receiver. And since your harvest loop is starved already there is nothing to transfer the heat out of the compressor causing the low discharge temp during harvest.
Also the high head in freeze is forcing just enough through the starving valve to just squeak out a full slab.

All manufacturers are using TXV from China now and they are failing in HVAC units very periodically. It is happening in all of the brands we sell too!
