1956 chevy belaire. It burned more oil than gas. That was the model that had the hidden gas fill cap. To get to it you had to turn a little chrome knob on the tail light. The tail light hinged down and there was the gas cap.

53 Chevy convertable that I never got on the road. First on the road was a 1960 Chevy Biscayne with a 283 5 cylinder V8 (only 5 of the cylinders worked)
I couldn't outrun anybody but when I stomped on the gas nobody could find me through the smoke cloud.

1989 Mustang 5.0 LX Convertible. I loved that freakin car till I let a friend drive it when I was to drunk. Yup he totaled it!! Boy was I pissed!! The cool thing was that he went out the next day and sold his car and gave me what I paid for mine. My mother decided to punish me so she bought me a 1980 SAAB. That thing was worst than driving a tank. Although the back seat was HUGE which came in handy back in high school!! LOL

The old guy across the street was too old to keep on driving...paid $400 bucks for it. It had vacuum wipers, so when the girlfriend and I went to the drivein, I had to start the engine to clean the windshield when it rained.
The front seats would fold down flat withn the rear seats...did I mention that I took it to the drive-in.

Speaking of how big a 60 Chevy was, a friend of mine let me baby sit his 1960 Impala convert with a 348 3 sp on the colum one weekend. Me and my best buddy crashed a slumber part in Oxon Hill, Md way back when girls were girls and men chased them. Well, they threw us out -- never figured out why, so we were down in the country, no place to sleep so we crawled in the trunk, blocked the lock and both of us slept in the trunk all night with plenty of room to spare.

My very first was given to me which was a 1978 Chevy cargo van. The first first one I bought on my own was a 1964 Chevy Chevelle with 4 on the tree. The engine on that car was so basic that I was able to take it apart and put it back together again in my sleep.

My first car was a '63 Corvair Monza coupe, 110 HP twin carb, 4-speed with bucket seats and an pushbutton AM radio that I bought in 1968. I found it at a local service station that had picked it up on I-95 after it had an engine fire and abandoned.
I checked it out and found it was more sooted up than burned due to oil blowing out the dipstick (which was a common problem). I asked the owner what he wanted for it and said fifty bucks....and he'd deliver it for me. Deal.
I had it running like a champ a couple of hours after I got it home. It got me through college and was a fun little car to drive. I found out the hard way that Ralph Nader was right when the back end beat the front around a few turns. After adding front and rear sway bars, Koni shocks and a set of Michelin X radials it drove like a Porsche (well sorta') ;)
After school I gave it to my father who after a while restored it and switched transmissions to a 2-speed Powerglide slushbox so my mother could drive it to the antique car meets they went to.

'83 Nissan pickup I bought while in the Navy. Super little truck, never gave me one shred of trouble. I carried over the cleanliness habits we practiced in the ship's engineroom and kept that truck showroom clean most of the time. Still try to on the one I drive now. Some habits are good to have. :D

My first car in 1980 was a 1970 Ford Maverick which was so badly rusted, the seat fell through the floor.
My second one a year later was a 1973 Plymouth Fury III. The trunk was so large, I could put 4 - 35gal trash cans in it and close the trunk. Had a huge backseat too. :)

My first was a 1966 Mecury Comet. It had a strait 6 with bad valves. This post sure brings back the memories.
68 GTO, 400ci 4spd, 4.33 rear, blew the original engine after 4 weeks (no sense rebuilding a good engine you know), first car, first drivers license too.

Hey Muskie, I had one of those factory V8 Mustang II's. Mine was white and after blowing the 302 I installed a 351W out of a 73' LTD along with a C6 tranny, fender well headers and all kinds of engine mods. Only bad side was I never tubbed it and that thing wouldn't hook up. Just would spin the tires till the cows came home.

That one is a 76 mach 1. Came factory with a v6, I did the swap and tryed to make it appear factory. Got 2 miles on the engine, and 67,000 on the rest. Only kept it since they built around 6,000 of them, in 40 years it may be worth what I got invested. Anyone know where I can find some clean factory bumpers?
Used to have a 78 with a 289 hi-po 4 speed toploader and a narrowed 9 inch. At the track it would run high 13's. Wicked little car, it liked tires too.

put it back together, drove it til '94 lady in a lincoln town car plowed into me, totaled my car, bought another '62 Falcon futura paid too much, good thing I had my totaled car, I needed all the parts for the second one. It was easy to find my car in any parking lot!

My first one was a 62 GMC 1500 with every option that was available including bumper gaurds, coil & leaf springs and factory air. It had the 305C V6 with a 3 on the tree hydra-matic. It only had 25,000 origanl miles. I bought it off a friend of the family(original owner) for $1000. Best truck I ever had.
