I am just wondering if people have observed the same thing I have seen? For instance, ( HVAC AGENT) I have applied for jobs thru that site with a company and never get response, but if you apply with the companies website direct they call you. I think the websites do not send them unless you use the paying side of their website.
This may be just be my sense of the thing, but hvac agent has the same jobs over and over, just updated every so many days with the same company.:anyone:

I've found the same success with HVAC AGENT as you. Seems like a joke too me. I find it funny that when I apply through HVAC AGENT I never hear from anyone, but when I send my resume out on my own I get an interview.:deadhorse:

I actually did land a job using HVAC-Agent, and that happened within about two weeks of joining and adding a resume. I applied for about 20 jobs, and had a phone call out of the blue, followed by two interviews, then accepting the job. After working there for a while I found out that EVERY SINGLE employee had gotten their job through HVAC-Agent. Some had been there for over 5 years.

I do know that HVAC-Agent forwards e-mails to all businesses that has applicants through their site. One of my responsibilities was to skim through the applications and resumes and weed people out. My favorite was a guy whose entire application was blank except for his name and then it said "manager at taco bell." This is why businesses don't pay attention to what comes through.

The problem does not lie with HVAC-Agent. They just provide a centralized medium in which companies can advertise to potential employees. As mentioned above, the economy is horrible.

From what I can tell, my experience was one of a kind, and I was very lucky. I have been looking for a job for relocation for over a year, with no luck. I frequent HVAC-Agent, MEPjobs, Careerbuilder, Monster, indeed, and several other job sites, with no luck.

I have used hvac-agent, and have been contacted by a couple employers. The trouble with hvac-agent as "i" see it, is either you have boatloads of experience and therefore a prospective employer can get a solid idea of where you are at in your career based on your profile, or you are less than an hvac expert, and as your experience level goes down, the more vague your hvac-agent profile becomes.

Since i chose to "specialize" in a narrow area within the field, it was easier for employers to find me-even in these slow times, but if not for that, i agree that quite possibly i never would even have gotten one call, because of my limited experience.

Its the same with all agencies, they have cornered the market especially when it comes to temping and permanent recruitment. Like you say they advertise the posts all the time, sometimes they update the post slightly to get people interested, and then when you apply for the job... its gone.

The trouble is there is a lot of chancers out there calling themselves recruitment agencies. They all get to hear about a potential position at a company and they all compete for the recruitment contract, the company gives the contract to the cheapest qoute, then in turn they push down the annual salary because there isn't enough markup in the contract to make it worth their while.

Then they get people who are really good at their jobs and desperate to work, who deserve a lot more than the reduced annual salary. That's if the job materialises. If your already in a job, then stay where you are because I don't think that the labour market will improve for at least another 18 months unless you are willing to take a pay drop. Wait until you hear it through the grapevine that there is a good job going somewhere, and only use the agencies if your out of work and desperate.
