View Full Version : Is this upside down?

We've had frequent problems with our building system not properly balancing the building static pressure, especially last week when we had snow.

I was up on the roof looking at the pressure pickup on the outside of one of the AHU's and immediately thought, this is upside down.

Shouldn't the flat cover plate be up and the open end down??

That's Trane's new rain gauge, lol, kidding!!

It was definitely making a dandy snow gauge... surely that isn't the proper orientation.

It is correctly oriented in your picture. Check out the IOM, it's always in there. You could be getting snow/ice blocking the pickup or harsh wind can even mess things up.

Unfortunately I don't have the IOM, do you know what the part # is so I could look it up on Trane's site? Just seems like a funny orientation, why wouldn't the 'cap' be to the top to prevent debris from falling into the unit.

Punch in the first 4 letters of you model number and it will pull up an IOM.

The end up in your picture should not be open. If it is, then you lost the black plug that goes into it.

That is one of the most popular styles of out static pressure sensors. I have always seen them mounted with the circle end down. But there is suppose to be a plug on the top.

Btw- That's just a Dwyer A-306.

Thanks! I do not see that black plug on the top, I'll get a ladder up there tomorrow to check for certain but I'm sure it's missing. It was too icy up there today to get a good look at it

I checked and we're definitely missing the cap on top, plus there is a crack in the side of the unit so we're going to get a replacement
