I'm wondering if anyone might have information on some older Day & Night heating systems? My forced air all electric heating system just died and I'm trying to find the manual or at least the age of the system so I can get it repaired. I'm guessing it was installed as the first heating system when the house was built in 1978. I opened it up and the details on the metal placard are as follows:

Manufacturer: Day & Night (a division of Carrier Corporation)
Model: 250 / 48EF603
Serial: 48C 81950
Volts: 208 - 240
Phase/HZ: 1/60

Any information would be really helpful. Thanks.

Here's the only info I have. It's 32 years old, you need to replace it. A unit that old is rarely worthy a major repair.

2010 - 32 = 1978

Thanks for the math tip...

No problem Jank - they call me Achimedes around the the shop, but none of them passed 3rd grade, so I guess that doesn't say much for my math skills.

Reminds me of this character that called and wanted our best tech for a 35 year old Tappan electric furnace. He wanted burned wires fixed and he didn't want a tech that would tell him he needs a new one. I told him anyone I sent would tell him he needs a new one. Sent one of our characters and 5 minutes after arrival he's calling in setting up an appointment for a sales call. Now the guy has a 2 week old Tappan electric furnace!

I'm not all that good at spelling either. I had to look up how to spell Achimedes.
Seriously Janks, find a few good contractors for quotes, and you'll have a nice system with a warranty that will keep you toasty for years to come.
