I'm getting exhaust fumes in the basement after the oil furnace runs.
When standing in front of the barometric damper with the oil furnace OFF and the heat pump ON I feel air blowing out the barometric damper.
Is this normal ?
My system;
Carrier Two Stage,
Split System: Heat Pump with Remote Outdoor Unit-Air-Source
Outdoor Unit Model Number: 25HNA648A30
combined with Indoor Unit Model Number: CNPV*4821A**
Oil Furnace 58VMR120-20
Variable speed blower.
The chimney has a steel liner.

If in fact you are getting exhaust fumes from a barometric damper, turn everything off and call for service!!!
If you are feeling warm air blowing from a barometric damper, that is normal.
It might not be set-up properly, but it is not a hazard.
If your heat pump is running, and not the oil furnace, it is doubtful you are getting exhaust fumes from a barometric damper. A heat pump produces no exhaust fumes.
Needless to say, better safe than sorry. Call for service.
Do you have a CO detector?

Yes, what I meant was the oil furnace ran for a few minutes then the heat pump took over. I was not in the basement when the oil furnace was running.
Needless to say, better safe than sorry. Call for service.

Yes I have a number of CO detectors. Thanks.

If you have warm air coming out of your barometeric. Then you probably have leaks in your return air system.

Yep.
The leaks in your return duct, are pulling in basement air. And putting your basement into a negative pressure. And pulling the air back down out of the chimney.

As BT said, building is de-pressurised. Should never have air coming out of barometric.. means chimney is now a fresh air duct. Need to install a combustion/make-up air duct & probably seal return air ducts & filter access. Maybe upsize returns as well.
Well the negative pressure may be true. Also he should call a trained oil technician, have them check the set up, look for sootin, CHECK DRAFT..... You have a steel liner, make sure the cap is still on.
