Harry Trueman was an interesting man. He originally ran around in the Chicago crowd with organized labor as a numbers keeper who stayed in the background. His purpose was to somewhat cook the books for the less intelligent bosses of that time.

They, the in political crowd, of that Chicago crowd recognized him an an intelligent fellow that could be pushed ahead of the crowd and get put into a place of power to serve those that paid his pay check.

He was somewhat of a sissy man at that time in his life.

His crowd pushed him into politics successfully until he was nominated into the Presidential race and he won, believe it or not. Familar story, huh?

Once he got into the White House and came to the realization that his job was to represent ALL the people in the USA his attitude changed...also because the biggest decision he was forced to make was dropping the A bombs on Japan soon after he took office.

He found a backbone, started representing the voters and turned his back on the bosses who pushed him into office. And the rest of his term he pretty much represented voters. The rest is history.
