I'm kinda new to the field, and had a question on why there would be a temperature increase across a filter drier of about 6-7 degrees. I understand a decrease do to a restriction but not an increase. Thanks

Are you sure you're checking in the right direction of refrigerant flow? Just because the arrow is pointing one way doesnt meant the last guy put it in correctly, it could be a temp drop.
As for a temperature rise on a drier I have no idea, never seen it.

:ditto:
Unless it's a Bi flow dryer
Or did the unit shut off as you took the temps? One side with the unit on and the other the unit off/?

Providing its piped correctly there should be very little temp drop across a drier. Temp drop is direct relation to pressure drop which suggests a plugging drier. Plugged drier could be from several scenarios. Wax or other contaminants, oil contamination, sometimes after a burn-out and poor clean up; motor winding varnish. Too much solder...

A one degree temperature drop across a drier is not a good thing
