Replacment filters for Trane system

The installer told me i only could use the EZ-flex 4" filter from Trane.

Well i found that the filter is used by Trane, Carrier, Bryant etc....

Can i pick up a 20x25x4 3M filter from the local hardware store?

Does anyone know if it will fit with out a problem and if it might have some sort of flow restriciton

It will have lots of flow restriction.

Your furnace will not perform well with it.
