Many Heat Pump manufacturers have a standard 5 year warranty which is doubled to 10 years if the homeowner registers the equipment within the first 90 days.

I'm a homeowner with a new system. While registering seems like a no brainer, I'm wondering what the catch is. Why does the manufacturer want me to register and why would they double the warranty if I do? It just seems like a too good to be true situation. Is the warrantly automatically 10 years after registration or is there some sort of other qualifications that I don't know about.

There isn't a catch. The 10 year parts wty is for the original home owner only, that's why they want you to register. If you sold the house it would go back to 5 years.

And I'm guessing almost nobody registers so they can advertise 10 years but not pay out!

We do it for the customer, it's easier than talking them through it step by step. Takes us about 2 miinutes.
