What do you guys think of T.A.C. controls? I've never worked on or even seen them on a job. I may be working with them soon so I'd like too know what i'm up against. Thanks.

Big Unit,

T.A.C. has multiple lines including:

Continuum (BACnet or Infinet)
Vista (LON or Clasic)
IA (BACnet, LON or ASD)

I have worked extensively with Continuum which is a great product and Vista which functions (not a good experience on my part but have friends that use it and are satisfied with the end product). I have not personally worked with IA, but I do know it is Niagara based (UNC = Jace with ASD).

They supposedly are developing their own front end that will be able to use multiply protocols, release date unknown.

Let me know which system you will be working with and I'll see if I can dig up some literature.

Need to know which line - they also own INET and more, and the big owner of all the lines is Schneider Electric.

TAC is:

Andover
TAC (Sweden) used to be Tour Andersson Controls that is how T.A.C came about
Barber Colman
CSI INET
Robertshaw
Satchwell (U.K.)
Siebe
Invensys
Controlli (Italy)
Erie

All started when Siebe bought Barber Colman and Robertshaw, changed name to
Invensys and bought Satchwell and Controlli. TAC Sweden bought CSI/INET and than
bought Andover and than bought Invensys. Schneider Electric (Square D) bought TAC.
And now it is a mess! Good luck.

One side of the TAC line is LON and the other side of it is Bacnet.
Which line are you going to work with?
The software for TAC is properitary and can only be sold to TAC partner, is your company to become a partner?
The programming langauge is different is both lines.
The front end graphical display is different also, depending on what device you are using.
Provide more information and can help you out more.

I worked for TAC for 8 months (In Australia). I found the Vista range very 'bulletproof'. The guys would just upplug any controller whenever they needed to, and it start back up without a hitch after. I'm used to Siemens Apogee, and that wouldn't go down too well (or as fast) with them. TAC as a company I found push the Maintenance contracts to the point of extortion :) SO many hours sold to do SO little. The maint. techs have to pace themselves or they finish too fast. (This might be country/branch specific tho).

What is your location? This is typically sold through your nearest partner/dealer/branch office.

Not sure whom you already talked to but there is a number of sales offices in Georgia. Granted these are likely not all Andover dealers, but someone should get back to you or tell you who to call...
