I would like to install an HRV and the model I have narrowed my search to is the Fantech SHR3005R. It has two cores and is claimed to have an efficiency of over 90% - that's pretty good.
one of the main reasons I want to install is to reduce the humidity in my home, particularly in the winter months. It's very humid in my home and on really cold days there quite a bit of condensation on the windows. I believe the HRV will assist in this area.
My concern is in the summer. If the HRV is running in the really hot humid days here in Toronto, will the HRV actually draw IN humidity during the summer months? Thus my A/C will have to cycle longer to reduce the humidity brought in by the HRV. Would this be true? This is what a contractor told me tonight and suggested I shut off the HRV during the hot humid days.
