Home automation?

Been thinking about this.

Setting up a system like the building automation systems n larger commercial buildings. Monitor temp, humidity, outdoor, whatever I want to set it up to do.

Wireless connectivity to the home PC.

Anyone have any experience with something like that?

That could be fun. Nobody to answer to but yourself. I like the ring of that. Gives you tonns of options to experiment with.

This is what I've done with my home. Two Heat- Pumps, I lock out electric heat until outside temp. gets below 30- or the women complain too loud. And I have two occ. modes; day unocc. and night mode. In the summer at night I drop the temp. in the house a couple of degrees and try to "coast" a bit during the day- it seems to work a little better than letting things warm up in the "night" mode. I have the outside receptacle on there so I can time the Christmas lights.

Now that is the type of thing that I am looking at.

Nice graphical interface. Can give the manager (read WIFE) her own override method for temporary setpoint changes.

Who makes that setup?
