How far away can the condensing unit be from the inside unit? Max line set length?

depends on brand.

It will be a 2 ton unit. Prob Mitsubishi.

You can find it in the instructions, of course. I think it's somewhere around 100 ft with 100 ft of lift. 30, 36 and larger can go 150' but don't quote me.
ok, went to the filing cabinet in the truck, Mitsubishi Mr.Slim, puz-a-nha3/puz-a-nha3-bs
12/18- 100ft length with 100' height difference, max 15 bends
24,30,36,42 165ft length with 100' height difference, 15 bends.:rules:

The lgs and some other less expensive models limit to 50' and 25' of lift, due to the expansion valve is in the outdoor unit so the "liquid" line is not really a liquid line but part of the evaporator the whole way, unlike a standard a/c unit where the expansion valve is located at the evaporator coil
