I am in the process of replacing my HVAC equipment with hydro-air equipment.

My current boiler vents to my chimney, which as two flues, some 15-20 feet away. There is a pipe with an in-line blower fan that connects to boiler exhaust to the chimney.

The question that I have is whether a direct-vent solution would be a problem if the resulting vent was located under sliding glass door that is 3-4 feet above where the vent would be located.

The boiler will be a Peerless (WV-DV-04WPC) cast iron oil fired boiler, a Vaughn (S-50TTP) 50 gallon indirect fired water heater and a new Trane (XR-13, 5 ton capacity) condenser.

You'll have to check local codes. Most places won't allow an exhaust within X feet of an operable door or window.

Even if you have enough clearance to pass code.
I wouldn't do that with an oil boiler. The odor will hang around your deck area.

we all know that hot air rises, the hot flue gases could rise and if the house is in a negitive pressure, this could draw the gases into the house,i do not
think it would hurt any one,but it would cause a oil smell in the house.
hope this helps.:pop:

You don't think products of combustion drawn back into a house are a problem? Me neither. I don't even know why they make us put the vent into the chimney

Wow. I didn't know that CO couldn't kill you. Like trout said. No need for a chimney then.
