Don't let this fool you I'm 52 but the first car
I bought was my Grandfathers 1931 Model A Sedan.
The Ford needed work so I bought a stick shift
1961 Plymouth Valiant and gave him $500 dollars.
He helped fix up the Model A and enjoyed the Valiant.

I used to go up that way in the '74. Lone Pine was a favorite
area. I flew a hang glider off of Yosemite ( Glacier Point ) around that time.
We used to go looking for old Gold Mines. See an old addit and
go exploring.

I had 2 hard rock mine claims & 4 river dreaging claims.
I worked the claims quite a bit untile i got to old to out run bears & rattlers. My best luck was dredging a stream with 4 inch dredge & within 10 minuets pulled up $3,000.00
in gold. THEN there were the times i got nothing. All luck.

We used to talk about doing that but never did.
we'd find claim markers in Prince Albert cans with
a pile of rocks. We left them as we found them.
Are there still old claim markers around?

I heard others say that there is still Gold in Placerville.
I remember camping there and seeing a bear eat the remaining
hot dogs I foolishly left out. My buddy was safe in his canvas pup
tent with his dog that was shaking like a leaf. I was drunk
and thought I was dreaming.

55 Chevy stick. Damn thing stuck in 2nd gear (which all chevys did with shifter on steering column. Dad went back to the salesman and he said, "sorry jack, you bought it as is." Before we got it adjusted right, you would be under the hood pulling on those levers, hopping back in and off you'd go.

My moms idea of my 1st car was a 79' Pinto. After a nice set of mag wheels and a loud stereo my friends would finally cruise with me. It was only a year later and I bought a 64' SS Chevelle 327CI camel hump 202 heads, 4 speed muncie, 12 bolt 411 posi. Now that car was fun and 20 years later I still kick myself in the a** for selling it.

Cars or trucks, it didn't matter. For at least 10 years chevy's with 3 speed on the tree had this problem. Can you imagine if we let something like this in our industry go for that long?

Thought I was the only one that ever owned one of them. Used to fly into parking lots in the snow with it doing 40 or 50 mph, drop it into first and cut the wheel, man could that car spin. :)
The first car I ever bought was a 72 Challenger. It had had a fire under the hood that the ins co totaled. Paid $400 for it in payments to my girlfriends brother. Lots of trips to the junkyard and elbow grease and she was perdy as new. :)

'56 Ford Wagon, V-8, automatic, with "cowboy" interior. First time I floored it the throttle stuck full on. That got my heart pumping. First week I had it got my license suspended. I learned a lot from that car.
