Hi,

I am currently building my own house. I am 29, and i amd GC'ing the job while working a full time desk job. its been interesting to say the least.

I like to think i know my limits, and that is why i looked hard for a reputable installer for my gas/furnace/HVAC/A/C.

When i got my quote last year from the insaller it listed a Keeprite 2 stage variable Furnace. We didn't start building untill August and i am now having him install. When i went in last night, there was a luxaire Acclimate 9.m series furnace on my floor.

I have read a decent amount of reviews, and the consensus seems to be that installers love the product but the users are genearlly unhappy.... This is stressing me quite a bit, and i am curious to get some opinions before i go and rain down terror on my contractor for not supplying the furnace he said he would.

Does anyone have an opinion on this particular model?. House is single floor bungalow with a full unfinished basement. Approx 1875 sq/ft

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Checking, it was manufactured in August of 08 at the Norman plant.

97% mod but with a PSC blower drive, not ECM. Currently production has been curtailed and will be re-introduced with control upgrades and other changes sometime in 2010. The Keeprite is made by ICP same unit as Heil / Tempstar. 2 stage furnace @ 95% with ECM drive. Nice quiet unit. I would want the ECM drive with the Luxaire modulating furnace. It is a real quiet unit as well. The comfort level would be superior with the mod unit as well as the higher efficiency levels We use both brands but as of late have been using only Luxaire. Excellent equipment with no issues on our end and 0 complaints from our customers.

Don't know of any customers that don't like the Mod when its installed properly.

Although yours has the PSC blower. Its speed is controlled by the furnace board, and will provide a nice warm air temp from your supplies at all modulations.

this is a very good unit, ut takes care to set up properly. i too would have wanted the ecm motor with that furnace as opposed to the psc. havesold a lot of them and they work well.

Luxaire with ecm motor is very good. Don't know about the psc version.

Thanks very much for all the great feedback, and quick as well.

Its comforting to know that im not getting completely jacked by my heat and air guy. Interestingly enough though he has not been showing up when he says he will...

About the PSC blower. Is getting an ECM Motor and swapping it out somethign that my installer should be able to do? Or is it only something that could have been done when he ordered the furnace.

I wasn't sure if you were refering to the ECM motor as the MOD.

Thanks for all your help and info.

Nope.

You order it as either teh PSC version, or the ECM version.
Its not just a motor swap out.
