Feb. 25th to 28th,2004 ,in New Orleans, along with the ACCA Annual Conference. That would be a great place ,to start!

I was pleasantly impressed with Pittsburgh. All I had heard of it was that it is a steel town and you only see the seedy side of the city in movies.
The city is in a valley that goes to the where three major rivers come together. It is much hillier than I expected and their bums have really entertaining stories to get you to give them money.

i grew up in pitt., count me in like flynn. we need to designate a hotel to stay at and firm up the dates. see if we can get a group rate, no bs, i would love something like this.
Diceman
12-30-2003, 04:45 PM
Here is what I am planning. We need to pick a date in the next couple months, I am thinking late July-mid August. Biz slows down for most by then and it will be on a weekend so no biggie there, plus we need nice weather here and that is always a good month.
OK here is the deal. There is nice motel 5 minutes from me, I can get group rates there I think, it is a good place, been to weddings there and dinner. Very convienant from turnpike and major parkway here. Try to get in on a Friday afternoon or early evening. We meet there, you can get shuttles from the airport as well. We have a few drinks and I will get a giant limo to meet us there around 8-9. My son gets them all the time for his group, big ones that hold like 25 people, only cost about $45 per person for the entire night, they take us to the city and various places we want to go. We have a blast, no one has to drive and we return to motel around 2am. We can rent 2 of them if need be, whatever.
OK, good so far. For those of you who don't drink, please come as well, and please bring your sig other, there is lots to see and do here as well. Now, since most of you have to travel and will spend money doing so, I have conferred with the big CEO of Pennwood, my dear wife, and on Saturday we will have the picnic at my house. Yep, right here, I have a big, private back yard. We will have the food catered of course.
On sat morning some of you, Robo for example, come here we go get the kegs of beer, soda and whatever and set up. Thats why ya need to stay at the motel close to me, things will work out easier for rides and such.
On Sat, I will teach yinz how to play beer pong and shoot bb guns. Other games will be decided on too.
That will save lots of money. So all ya need is to get here, pay for 2 nights in motel, and I will get a rate I'm sure, pay for some entertainment and such, and chip in for food catering. by Sunday we will be sick of each other and you can all go home:) Or hang around and sight see some if ya want. Possible brunch somewhere first.
Those of you who wish to hit the titty bars can work that in somewhere I'm sure. So this is gonna happen this year, you have time, start checkin for mid august and plan your vaca accordingly. You won't forget this one, so be here.

If some can't make it maybe we can organize regional conventions to take place throughout the year. Sounds like Dice might be the Northeast Regional Director. Well, not sure you want them here, I think it would be better if ya looked around and found a high school girl to house sit and watch him, or he could stay at a buddies house down there. You could make better time driving that way too. You would only be gone 2 nights, he will survive, mine did when they were young. It is tough though so, if you have to bring him he is welcome at the picnic, but you will miss the friday night bar hopping and sight seeing won't ya? Think about it some more. Get a couple of the better product salesmen to come over for the picnic and set up a couple tables for them to display their wares. I bet you could work something out about having a display of HVAC-CALC products there. Then it would be a legit tax write off for everyone. They may also invest some money into the catering or door prizes just for the opportunity to meet the largest congregation of the greatest minds on the planet.

Since I may not make it may I make a couple of suggestions?
At the beginning of the "meeting", be sure to time the allowable three minutes of superheat, subcooling and other technical discussions.
Anyone found is serious heated technical discussions following said timing session shall be responsible to buy one beer for anyone within hearing distance.
Following infractions should be enforced with the infractor purchasing a round for the entire party.
Anyone discussing technical issues at the nudie bar?
Start the gay rumour.

This is just a point of order. We still have 7 months to go before the convention. But this has become the convention thread. Dice you did not start this thread. Purdan did. Already it is at 17 pages. As we get closer to August the posting on this thread should really pick up.
So what happens if this thread encroaches on the 9mm thread? (Submitted for your consideration)

On my recent trip to Pittsburgh I decided to drive by Dicemans home.Look at the pic I took, I actually was afraid to stop and just kept driving by.i think he volunteered to hold the hvac-talk convention so that he can recruit us into his military. I think Dice went bigger than 9mm http://ww2.imagewiz.net/images/hvac/13217_diceyard.jpg

I-76 is the Pa. Turnpike, first ever tool road in the country, it hasn't changed much, it sucks.
is the test open book, if not i'll have to start working on the cheat sheet.

First off it is a tool road, take your tools if you want to
make it. :)
Secondly are you saying that you have figured out a way
of beating the tolls if you beat the 10 minute time limit?
Is that the time to run the toll booth and not have a trooper
catch you :)?

That's the way to do it.
Try to stop mooning when ya get near my house, my neighbors talk about me enough as it is.
After chatting last night in the chat room and with the Mrs along by me I might be able to come to the convention. Dice, we might need 2 cots in the shed if wifey comes along.

Really wasn't considering on going but now I have too.
Started the new job today and one of the things I did was to put in for the day off on August 6th for the convention.
Someone's gotta post on this every day or two to keep the thread alive lest we all get so damned busy that we forget about it!

Just got a second job!:D
-6° this morning and I'm not on call. Now that I'm gainfully employed again I can have some MGD on this Blockbuster day. We have Final Destination 1&2, House of the Dead and Cabin Fever.
The Final Destination movies were great and I would highly recommend watching them if you like the scary story with blood & guts in it.

St Clairsville, OH. @81. We carpooled to school and getting back on I-70 got cut off. The guy in our back seat mooned the offending car. Got home to incoming relatives for a big family weekend barbecue blowout. At the table my aunt chimes in with something like, "you won't believe what happened on the way here!"
