Does anybody have any experience, good or bad, with running a YT with something other than "C" oil? 250 something a bucket last I looked.

I know of an outfit that ran Mobil WF68 in a 19DA for many years, with yearly changes and analysis. McQuay was OK with regular refer mineral oil back in the day.

C oil and Suniso 4GS are pretty much one in the same - 300 viscosity, napthenic based mineral oil, no additives or inhibitors. If it weren't for shaft seals, I'd put it in anything that called for C, and never say anything. Since we do have shaft seals, it's hard to persuade a customer to turn away from the recommended factory stuff. I do have one customer that has asked me to use it in his chiller next go 'round. He's sick of paying what it costs to keep a York running. If you try it, let me know how it all works - I'll do the same. I still have old MSDS sheets on C oil that lists 4GS as the mfrs designation, and before CPI became Yorks tier 1 supplier of lubricant, I've actually had oil shipped from the vendor with the Suniso sticker overlaid with a York sticker on 3, 4, and 5GS oils.

Hey Klove, do you have those MSDS sheets on pdf? If so you think I could get a copy? Thanks.

Sorry tx, just old, barely readable hard copy that rode around in a truck for many years. If I can get them to scan, maybe I can figure out how to attach them here.

Anybody checked the price of heat sink Kool-Aid? I about crapped at how much they want for a gallon of treated water.

Hey Randy, I,ve been using Mobil Gargoyle Artic 300 for years and it works quite well and has more cleaning properties then "C". It is also about 1/3 the cost of the (other brand) It is kind of strange to put the same oil in a recip and centrifugal. Hope this helps you out.-GEO

I think the "C" oil also goes in Z compressors.

Randy, When I saw your post on York oils it made me recall I had the attached from my York days. Took some searching but finally found it and guess what it pretty much aligns with the nucalgon cross reference. I can vouch from first hand experiance that the oils ships straight from the vendors and is decanted into drums/containers. Hope this helps mate.

That is the only thing that I see wrong in the calgon cross reference. L oil is NOT 32. IT IS 120.
Is it just me or does L oil make your hands itch like crazy.
I can't stand replacing oil filters on YCAS's. I did find that the gloves that grainger sells for use in chemothearapy works great for oil and filter changes. Even stands up well to 123.

We have been using Mobil WF68 Cappella D but now it is Chevron WF68.We used Caltex Capella D (which later became known as WF68) in York R11 and R12 OT and HT centrifugals for years without any trouble. I wonder if that is the same product.

I ran Mobil WF68 in two old 19DAs from 1995 to 2004. The guy before me ran the same oil for about 10 years prior to that.
