I want to say sorry up front as I was unable to get my AC details before I headed in to work and will post them later today if needed. That being said, I recently replaced the motor in my AC unit but last night I had a storm trip my main breaker that resides in a utility shed in my condo units. Since the trip, the temperature in my house has not been able to drop below 75 degrees when normally it sits around 70-72. I turned the AC off and opened the door for about 45 minutes last night to cool the place down and then powered the AC back on. It seems it ran the entire night and was running this morning and still is sitting around 75 degrees. Any thoughts on the matter? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Clint

Clint,

I hate to tell you this but... This is not a DIY for HO's (Home Owners). Every week we get several HO's asking for help and most always the get the exact same answer. Please Call A Technician To Come Repair It. We can't and won't tell you to do anything other than check the Thermostat. Please don't get Pee'ed it's the Rules here.

I understand this isn't a do-it-yourself, however, I wanted to possibly get some ideas of what the problem might be before I call out a technician and get hosed like I feel I did on my "broken motor". I will go elsewhere then.

Why do you care about an endless list of "might be's" that range from simple to complex. The almost endless list needs to be narrowed down by checking out the actual system.

You should focus your energy on finding a good tech. that can quickly get to "root cause".

You didn't even state what kind of A/C it is. Split, wallbanger, swamp cooler, etc.

Clint,

I'm not going to say it's impossible to Trouble Shoot without being there and seeing the unit but we could say it could be any part in the system. If XXX doesn't work, it will Freeze up and No Cold Air or, if the XXX has failed, No Cold Air, etc. Being a Tech for 30 years many times I've listened to the HO (home owner) and been led in the Wrong Direction. Many times if the person we talk to seems to have an idea what's wrong then we (in some cases) will start looking where they said and in many cases they were Totally Wrong and it ended up costing More to repair the unit.

Things for you to check.
1. Air Filter
2. Air Filter
3. Air Filter

This is no joke.

I totally understand your pain and concern. Talk to someone and find a recommended company.

Good luck.

Given the electrical issues you experienced, it will take a tech to trouble shoot your problem. No sense in taking wild guesses as it won't help the tech anyway.
