I've seen this before, and it makes me shake my head. I would like to see what other first ladies have had as staffers, maybe it's the norm. It is DC!

According to Anita McBride, Laura Bush's former Chief of Staff, Mrs. Bush had between 24 and 26 staffers working for her by the end of her husband's second term in office.

Lady Bird Johnson had a staff of 30

Betty Ford about the same

Jackie Kennedy 40

Thanks to Snopes.

Those fact could be right or they could be wrong. Obama has started out with this many staff according to the article. The rest of the eras built up to those numbers, if they are correct.

Also, the definition of staff is always up in the air. The staff accociated with the predency and Congress continues to expand and contract on a daily basis depending on need. Staff is hired to do certain functions based on the present requirements of the situations.

When the President or any of his staff have certain local or world situations happening and they need real and knowlegdable input they "hire" experts in that field for advice and input. When not needed those experts are kept on standby but not paid as they return back to their previous private enterprise positions throughout the world.

The President, his staff and Congress have a duty to find experts and have them assist in intelligent and knowledgable decisions for the general wellfare of the citizens of the USA.

The article refers to hired on presently employed persons who are being paid by tax payers money and who are, for all intense and purpose, fully employed including full benefits as federal employees engaged in handling Mrs. obamas daily going on projects.

BS geer, Link? proof etc. We all know that the Obamas have been treated like Egyptian Gods since ascending the throne of the Presidency and First Lady. Perhaps you have fallen to your knees in adoration to them already. Thank you very much.

so the simple answer to the entire problem is stop using the terms:

First Lady

Social Secretary

Deputy Secretary

or any reference to Assistant {insert anything related to the first lady here}

then she could actually get along with maybe 5 people.........officially?

Your references are revealing a less provincial nature while your vocabulary is showing a steady widening.

We will make an acceptable writer out of you yet.

Still need to work on your trust issues though.

Why should he check out snopes? Might as well ask you for the "facts". Snopes is as biased to the left as you are geer. Check out my thread on snopes and their leftest agenda.

Not hard to figure out why you liberals like snopes so much since when the issue involves politics they will lean to the left as far as they can without overtly appearing to be Marxist. Thank you very much.

Snopes may be biased, but I've never known Snopes to not be truthful. I rely on Snopes often. But then, I also listen to NPR:couchhide:
