A land lord called me up. Seems a unit I installed a couple years back wasn't working. The tenants called the oldest largest company here to fix it. L.L. was out of town. Tech diagnosed burnt board and had to order it. Cost to this point= $two-5-zero.

Thats where all these burnt fuses came from. check out the safety switch.

AHh Success,

all back together. New runs, board ,transformer and a new stat which had shorted and blew a fuse causing the original call.

These guys are used to working on those ones that are hard stop.lol The largest hack outfit around.

I'm giving the L.L.these pics with my bill and a copy of the troubleshooting guide for the board. He's going to pay them a visit.

So did the previous tech intentionaly cause the damage,or did he just miss it?

Looked like spaghetti before you came along! :D Oh, and I think I'd pay whatever it took to keep him away.

lol, What gesture?
I can't imagine a "tech" doing work like that. Then charging for it, before or even after he was finished.

It was definitly on purpose. You can't cut and jumper that many wires and blow all those fuses "one at a time", on accident.

Can you?? lol

Looked like a Christmas tree. I counted at least three different colors of wire nuts! Wonder what color that one that fell off was? :D

There wasn't one laying anywhere, he must of needed it for his next call.

hi there

I have come across those terminals you use in the usa where you twist the wires together useless
Do you lot have connector strips with screw terminals far better they do not come loose so easily ????????
do not often see them in england

I have seen work like that before, by an old coworker named good enough sam.

If you look close the wire nuts are not that crazy the blue one is used just to terminate one wire, the orange on the low voltage and the yellow on line . they just forgot to cap one connection !!

Opps just saw something else just to the right of the center orange wire nut is another uncovered connection !!

It's disconcerting that the hack that puts out this quality of work generally makes at least a couple of bucks an hour more than the poor sap that follows him up and does it right.
