Hello.

I'm looking to see if anyone may have some advice on whether or not I should consider adding some form of outdoor and/or indoor temp reset control.

The boiler is approx 15yrs old Burnham V713. There are 4 zones total one of which is an indirect hot water heater. 1 circulator pump for each zone.

I guess the first question is whether or not this is even a friendly thing to do to the boiler. I'd rather not induce any added wear and tear and maintenance.

Next is whether the fuel savings would be noticeable or if this would primarily just increase indoor comfort.

I'm probably leaving out some relevant info here and I'll do my best to provide any further details if it may help.

Thank you kindly.

V713 had a bad problem of cracking near the clean-out opening....15yrs is good. I'd leave it alone. These boilers shouldn't be run below 140* either, their not designed too...Running below 140* will cause condensation which will:
#1 plug up the boiler and make a mess.
#2 It creates sulfuric acid that will eat up the cast Iron.

If your looking for better efficiency buy a 3pass boiler like a Buderus or a Viessman that will accept these types of controls.
