View Full Version : Installation
After Ryan's OK, I bought a Infinity system in June ( HP, Furance, Evaporator and By-Pass Humidifier . I know it does not pay me to think - anyway, the humidifier is installed in the plenum (upflow) it has a flex duck from the return to the humidifier (by passes the filter). Seems to me when the Humid. is on and the fan quits blowing that any dust or dog hair would fall on the coils.
Thanks

From your description, it sounds like a perfectly normal installation. But I can't see it from here. Any pics?

Air flow is from the plenum side to the return side so there won't be any substantial dust, dirt or hair in the loop irregardless of whether the return collar is cut above or below the filter. It's the air coming back to the furnace from the return system of the house that is dirty.
I will try some pic's. It draws air from the return (by passes the filter) to the humidifier.

No.
Air from the supply is pushed through the pad into the return.

Exactly, the air that goes from the discharge through the pad is already filtered then going into the return through the filter again. Got that?

Yep, so it just recirculates filtered air.
Standard installation for a bypass humidifier.

that is not a filter in the humidifier, it is a water panel.
air flow ges through the humidifier in the opposite direction you think it does.
humidity is introduced into the return side of the system with a bypass humidifier.

Just remember to change that pad in the humidifier before every heating season, there cheap, just don't throw away the plastic frame that holds the pad like I did once not thinking
