All,

Following up on a post back in June, I am down to deciding between two Carrier Heat Pump configurations and am seeking a final recommendation one way or the other. Here are the choices:

25HPA548A-30
FV4CNB006
KTCEH3001F15

ARI #3405864

OR

25HPA548A-30
FV4BNF006T00
KTCEH3001F15

As you can see, the difference is the air handler. It is alphabet soup to me. What is the difference between these two models? And do both qualify for the Federal Tax break?

Many thanks in advance!

Maybe Ryan will see this post and answer.

Thanks beenthere. Still haven't heard anything yet on this. Is there anyone else you can suggest I get in touch with to learn more about this?

Call your contractor and ask him to explain the differences

DanW13, thanks for your note. Absolutely, I have talked to each of bidding companies about this question (I do not have a contractor yet, as I've not made a decision). However, I've appreciated the relatively objective advice I've received here in the past. It's been very helpful.

That heat pump system is 48,000 btu cooling, 13 EER, 15.5 SEER, 47,000 btu heating at 47F, 8.7 HSPF.

It does indeed qualify for the Fed Tax Credit. 15 SEER and 12.5 EER and 8.5 HSPF are the requirements for the Tax Credit.

Do you have an ARI# for the 2nd system?

Take care.

EDIT: "Dash" is a Carrier guy. Maybe you can e-mail him your question on the differences between the air handlers.

Thanks Gary G, I will send DASH an email asking his advice.

They are likely the same,just a typo,or salesmans mistake/shorthand
We would typically say , FV006 ,for internal comminications.

Here' more in oder of each letter.

F= Fan coil
V = Performance series & Puron/R410a
4= Multipoise,i.e. vertical/horiz/downflow for mounting
B= series,can't find one using C
N= 208/230volts
B=Modular/two piece cabinet. F= single piece cabinet
006= up to 5 ton capacity
TOO = tin plated coil,you'll want this featur,cooling coil will likely last longer

Have you ever encountered humidity problems in the summer when using the fv air handler and a standard stat,

Yes.

Makes no sense to pay for VS fan and not get a dehumidifing capable control/stat,IMHO.
