hi all, a tech came to my house today to try and troubleshoot a problem with 2 of my bedrooms not cooled well, the tech said those rooms were not getting enough air pressure or something, what he did was straighten the grille fins on three of my bedrooms and installed some kind of ana adapter ring on the register that had the highest air pressure, it seems to cure the problem. just wanted to get some feedback about changing the fins direction to the room instead of towards the wall. thanks in advance.

It sounds like he tried to balance by blocking the flow of air at a vent that was getting more than the rest, forcing that blocked air to find another way out (the vent that wasn't getting much air).

I'm assuming the fins were bent to direct the air towards the center of the room.

hi jdutton, thanks for the reply, directing the air towards the center of the room is that a good idea? would the default position be better? (the tech bent it straight using some kind of tool)

He may have straightend them out because of the increased air volume out of the register would whistle or you would hear alot of turbulance. Opening up the register fins would increase free area of the grill making it quiter.

Are these registers in the ceiling, high on the wall, low on the wall, or in the floor?
