Short general question.

Short general answer? Everything or nothing.

(What's the difference between a light switch and a computer? If you are simply interested in switching a light, nothing. The more you learn about the Infinity System, the more you start to realize the most accurate answer is "everything")

Thanks for the non answer, which leaves me to guess that it's the exact same insides just a more stylish look, or it has none of the features the Infinity Controller has ans is as you quote "just a light switch" So based on my repsonse here which one is it ?

Buy the Infinity Control. Is that the help you were looking for?

I'm sorry, I should have been more clear that you asked a non-question.

What system do you have? What do you want it to do? If you have no idea what you have or want, you can't get good advice. When you ask a non-question expect a non-answer. If you want just the differences, read the brochures. What this site really helps with is the between the lines information. When you want help deciding if the differences matter.

You asked what's the difference between a Mercedes and a Yugo, but you made no indication of your needs. So, assuming you need transportation the answer might be "nothing" as both are transportation.

Another answer might be "$50,000", as one is clearly more expensive than another. Is that what you wanted to know about the differences? If you really want all the differences between the two vehicles not just the differences that will be important to you, if you are asking for purely technical differences, read the manuals and brochures.

If you are seeking advice as to whether one is more suitable for YOU, indicate your situation and what you are looking for. The advice you get back is only as good as the information you provide.

Maybe you can understand this, and I don't think I asked a non-question, I simply asked what's the difference between the "2" Stats ? I read the tech note on the one I gave the number for but again I am simply asking if there's anything different between the 2 as I already have the Infinity Controller onmy Infinity furnace not too difficult to give a answer !! If you chose not to answer than merely say so and I will wait for someone who wishes to give a respectable answer.

Ahh, you are thinking of changing your Infinity control for a just a thermostat.

If you have an Infinity furnace and an Infinity control you have a system that communicates. It knows what equipment it's connected to and how it's running, and how under constantly changing conditions to run most efficiently and maintain incredible levels of comfort.

It controls staging, humidity, dehumidification, communicates with a SAM for local and Internet control - even e-mailing you and your service co if a failure occurs or if the filter gets restricted. It'll pick up and tell you model and serial numbers of your equipment.

Change the control out for a thermostat and you no longer have that. No airflow diagnostics, no trouble shooting codes.

IMHO - without that control all you have is a furnace. Might as well have bought any other brand furnace and saved some $. Infinity is the very best, Performance is next, Comfort and Base are the lowest/budget/no frill versions. You have the nicest system available. The only way to come close with a regular furnace is purchase Honeywell's Vision Pro IAQ.

If you are dying to spend $ on controls for your furnace, buy a SAM and get Internet control. Don't downgrade your whole system.

No I'm not considering changing out what I currently using just wanted to know what differences if any there were between the 2, I just happen to come across that particular stat and from what I read about it it sounded like the comparable stat like the Infinity but did not really know the difference so I asked. I know better than to change out what I have.

For non-infinity humidification control I like the EDGE (performance).

I think one of the nicest/easiest/best value thermostats available is the Touch-n-go (comfort) t-stats

The problem you are having is that your question is too short. When asking questions on internet boards it is important to get the community enough information to answer. What these guys want to know is: what are the model number(s) of your equipment? This way answers can be far more focused. A generalization is just that and not very useful.
