I live near Dallas, Tx. I wonder what kind of Hvac filter is good but not cost an arm and a leg. 16x25x4. I would also like to have some kind of humidifier(s) installed.

My system and house specifics: I have been trying to seal up the house and will spray in more insulation when the weather cools off. Im thinking about a radiant barrier too, under the roof and on the attic floor also. I"m hoping the floor (perforated) barrier will help slow down moisture loss. Although I do understand moisture is bad. My house humidity will get as low as 15% in winter. I have about a 4000 sq ft 2 story home with 3 split hvac units. They are 3 tons each, and I do think the work loads are ok. I have been using the room plug in vaporizers to attain humidity when desired. (Not that good) I have programmable thermostats and really have cheap electricity bills, Im talking average around 230 during summer with a pool pump and full time aerobic septic pump. So I have the system tweaked pretty good.

Any recommendations on a humidification system, I'm tired of dry sinus's and dry skin. I keep the heater thermostat around 70 so I'm not running it non stop. I'm guessing something would have to be installed on all 3 units. Oh, they are gas fired furnaces installed horizontally in attic. My living room is 15x28 by about a 15ft high vaulted sealing and runs on a separate unit than the bedrooms and such. The rest of the rooms are normal height of 7 to 9 ft.

Thanks

I use the "unbranded alternative" MERV 8 and am very pleased.

If this is a multilevel home you should not put a humidifier in the attic. With that much square footage I would probably go with a honeywell steam humidifier or something similar.
