experienced opinion please?

We are capitalizing on a recent flood that left our furnace condemned and upgrading from a mid to high efficiency.

I have two choice before me - for virtually the same price.

Some context:

I live in Ottawa, Ontario Canada - i.e. cold dry winters!
I want to get a humidifier installed with the furnace to help keep a constant humidity level - I have some musical instruments that will thank me!

The two choices are:

1. Keeprite C9MPV (VS 90)
2. Rheem RGFD

After doing a number of comparisons I can't seem to find a definitive edge either way. Although it does look like the Rheem warranty may be transferable where as the Keeprite does not seem to be.

Any help or opinions would be greatly appreciated! :anyone:

The Rheem is a fully modulating furnace vs the 2 speed Keepright. It also has a better warranty (in the US).

It's the second for me, most likely a regional thing. Keeprite is an ICP brand so it's in the family of Tempstar / Heil. While the Rheem / Ruud line gets high marks, also look into to York offerings (York, Luxaire, Coleman, etc.) value priced with some of the best efficiency ratings out there. Coupled with Honeywell IAQ controls and a quality whole house humidifier (powered or self generating over passive) and you will be comfortable, save energy dollars and you instruments will thanks you.

Yes - my apologies - Keeprite VS 90 is also known as the Heil VS 90

Whatever you purchase. You need to make sure that brand has a local supply house presence and has been selling the product for more than a few months. The biggest problem I find with offbrands such as Keeprite is that somebody might sell it for a while, then have problems with the manufacturer, usually warranty issues, then dump them for another offbrand and it takes a week to get a circuit board under warranty from Timbuktu.

I would also recommend the Rheem. As far as humidity the Honeywell perfect steam humidifier would work very well.

Rheem is my choice also, but giving the two to pick from you won't go wrong with either choices.:angel:
