Ok, so I have the other tread concerning if the upgrade from a G61MPV to a G71MPP is worth it if I can have it done....well for cheap when factoring in many things...

So, here is the next part of the craziness.

Is it possible to SAFELY install my what my be "old" G61MPV in my detached Minnesota garage and do something (heat tape?, keep garage at 50) to keep the condensate line from freezing? I've already got my old Carrier Weathermaker 8000 and 38CK A/C unit out there. I have a line on a like new Lennox a/c and a-coil to go with the G61MPV.

I plan on spending a decent amount of time out there since I'm losing half my house to my mother moving in with me. Being able to heat/cool the space efficiently is what's making me consider doing this. The original plan was to sell the G61MPV.

Thanks for your input!

Jason

GO FOR IT! Put the G71 in your house and move the G61MPV to the garage. Just keep the heat above 55 degrees in the garage to reduce the chances of condensing in the primary heat exchanger.

Is there an option to protect the equipment if I'd be unwilling to or unable to always keep it heated out there???
