My service company did not provide the required 6 month service as required by the maintenance agreement. This month (nine months after the last maintenance service was done) I am told the compressor is locked !
Could I claim that at least part of the cause was the lack of the maintenance service call they should have provided ?

No.

It would be hard to believe,three months late,had anything to do with the failure.

Why where they late?

The hardest thing about the service contracts are getting the customers to set an appointment. Most want the service but won't make the time to have it done.

Missing the service wouldn't have anything to do with the compressor having a locked rotor, it is just a coincidence.

Had they serviced it just prior to the compressor getting a locked rotor, some people would try to blame that on the A/C contractor.

You can try to claim anything you want, but you would have to prove that by them missing the service by 3 months it cause the compressor to fail.

How old is the condensing unit?

Can't prove it either way.


Some units don't get a yearly check, and run for 15 plus years.
