Hi, just wondering if anyone can tell me where I can purchase a spare factory permanent filter. I'm specifically referring to the one that is shipped with the Rheem RGRL furnace. It is the only filter that gives me acceptable pressure drop, so I'd like to have a spare to use while the other one is drying after I clean it.

I hope you're not talking about the same filter that came with my RGFD furnace. It's a thin (about a mm thick) plastic mesh screen.

If it is, then you might have other problems.

It is indeed the one. My question is, if it's not adequate to protect and keep the equipment clean, why would Rheem ship with the furnace?

I understand it's thin material, but doesn't it get magnetically charged when air passes through it?

Order one now if you want one. Rheem does not keep them in stock. They only order them from their source when they have a large enough number of requests. Your better chance would be to go to a Rheem dealer and ask if you can buy one from them. Most of the time, during installs, the factory poly filter is placed in the cardboard box the unit came in and trashed. You get an extra filter and the dealer makes a few bucks.
