My wife and I rented this palace for a year. The filter pic is my favorite. The owner/builder left me some air filters but I was never able to figure out where they went. I asked the guy to show me how they were supposed to be installed. I watched in amazement as he wadded one up and set it next to the blower inlet. The water heater and condensing unit are more examples of this guy's work.

A world class installation....tilt of condensing unit..leaning tower of Pisa and a frozen niagara falls. This install doubles as a geographical teaching aid. The pride in workmanshop shines through on every detail. I especially appreciate roomy service access between the home and the condensing unit. What an innovative touch in doing away completely with extraneous items such as a disconnect.
I guess the odds of having to kill the power quickly are pretty small .... like if a kid kicked out one of those sturdy cinder blocks.

H...is for this half-assed installation
A...is for the ass that should be kicked.
C...is for the codes in violation
K...is for kill the son of b***h
A...again for anal installation
G...is for good money down the drain
E...if for potential electrocution

Put them all together you get hackage
the jobs that give us all a bad name

Actually you may be able to make some money in the winter. Take the ice blocks off the condensing unit and sell them to the places in town that use ice blocks for ice sculptures.

Good example of why the filter should NOT be inside the furnace/air handler.

It is difficult/impossable to install and the customer can't find it. Customers should NOT be inside the furnace any way.

If you can't do something right don't do it at all.
The person who installed that HVAC system is pathetic.

Dear Steamdonkey
Hey Dude,

Yeah, the install is crappy.

But if it bothers you so much, maybe you won't mind posting new pictures of the corrected install.

You were going to correct it, weren't you?

I know I would and I'd also charge it back to the
landlord as needed code violation corrections.

Are you serious? Why am I obligated to fix this nightmare? I never said the install bothered me. I posted the pictures because they, and the story that went with them were entertaining.

Before you get too excited about code violations, remember this is West Virginia, any building codes they may have aren't rigorously enforced. This landlord was a good ol' boy and knew all the players in town. Blowing the whistle or back charging him for repairs would have been a royal pain. We only stayed there a year and since the heating and cooling worked pretty well (except for filtration) I didn't feel like hiring a lawyer just to nail this guy. If you want to go take care of it, truck on down to 103 Skemp Ave. Morgantown, West Virginia. Ask for John Turak.

Well, I guess if I'm dumb enough to post them, I'm dumb enough to ask why it is unwise to do so...
