Rather than hijack the existing thread, I thought I'd post a related question:

Am considering having a humidistat installed to add DOD capability to my a/c (RARL).

According to the manual, when operative, it would reduce airflow by 15%. My question is, would this degree of change require an adjustment from the current refrigerant charge, and if so, at which speed (higher or lower) should the charge be adjusted? The coil is equipped with a TXV.

At a 15% reduction, with a TXV you should be OK.

Is it safe to use DOD on an a/c with a fixed orfice instead of a TXV or are you risking problems?

Should be OK there too. A dirty air filter can cause that much reduction in air flow.
