Just got this from our supplier who got it from the factory. Not saying it is the final word...

As you know, there has been a considerable amount of confusion in our industry with regard to the amount of tax credit that a gas furnace with an AFUE of less than 95% is eligible for. According to our brand, and based on D.O.E. Data, the installed cost of the Advanced Main Air Circulating Fan, aka: AMACF on an 80% Gas Furnace is calculated as follows:

31% of the installed cost for an 80% Gas Furnace with an AMACF;
23% of the installed cost for a 90% Gas Furnace with an AMACF; &
20% of the installed cost of a 92%+ Gas Furnace with an AMACF.

Please note that these values apply only to furnaces with AFUE less than 95%. ALL 95% GAS FURNACES QUALIFY FOR THE FULL 30%, up to $1,500 Federal Tax Credit.

As an additional aid, the value of the credit will compute as follows:

2-Stage 80% Gas Furnaces with ECM (alone): 31% of 30% = 9.3%

[e.g. Installed cost $2500 = Tax Credit value of $232.50].

Have there been any updates on this or is there a resident tax guru on here?

If I get a oil furnace (Thermopride OH6FA072DV4R) installed, according to AHRI it qualifies for AMACF Federal Engergy Efficency Tax Credit. Is this the same thing as the Federal Tax credit of 30%/$1500 max?
