Just wondering if there is any major difference in the "cooling" power of the new type of refrigerant over the old R-22? My neighbor thinks that the new non-ozone depleting stuff doesn't cool his house like the old freon. Any comments? Thanks!

BTUs is BTUs.

I think my new system puts out colder air than the old. Both 2 ton, same airflow, at least according to the variable speed blower. New one sits on 20° drop from return to supply all the time.

Did they change capacity of unit? New blower stronger meaning more air which is warmer?

No. There is no difference between a 2 ton r22 unit and a 2 ton 410a unit (or whatever size) as far as "cooling power" is concerned. Your neighbor may have a different sized unit, or one not set up properly.
My same sized unit with 410a actually does a better job than the old one, but it's more of an air handler issue, than a refrigerant issue.

"New one sits on 20° drop from return to supply all the time. "

This is what I am seeing.

No Difference in refrigerant " cooling power" that is an Urban Legend.
