Goodman GMV95070...should buy?

Hello everyone,

I read a lot of the debate about Goodman products so now I'm confused of what to do. Half of the people said that it's terrible the other said that the newer Goodman is fine.

So now...I need a new furnace and Central air unit and was recommended the Goodman GMV95070 (70,000 BTU). I understand that it has a 10 years parts with lifetime heat exchanger warranty. To top it all, the contractor offered a 7 years parts and labor warranty for additional $. He said that the Goodman is as good as any. Is that true? Should I get it?

My question to all you expert is if any of you had any actual experience with the GMV95070 and would you recommended to others. I think it's a top of the line product for Goodman.

Quite frankly I know nothing about HVAC so I'm rely on this site for some advice. Good/bad or anything you can pitch in would be great.

You are correct this is a top of the line product for Goodman. It is a 2 stage, upflow, gas furnace with variable speed blower. I have installed a number of them and have had zero call backs. I am an Authorized GoodCare Dealer.

One success story is an install in a small church sanctuary (seats 100). I installed two of these furnaces. One in each corner of the rear of the sanctuary in closets. Before these furnaces folks could hardly hear the preacher when the heat or ac was on/after they were thrilled at how quiet they were.

I recommend you check out Goodman's website for more details on this furnace and their warranty. I firmly believe it's a quality/affordable product.

The GMV is one of the better furnaces on the market today. It qualifies for all State and Federal tax incentives and all rebate programs across the nation.

This furnace will enhance any cooling system's efficiency and can be set up to dehumidify as well as any other furnace on the market.

While there are a lot of other good furnaces out there, the GMV is certainly one of the top performers.

I spent a lot of time researching and I went with the Amana version. I came to the conclusion that with all things considered, quality, price, reliability, and warranty I ranked it 3rd overall. I believe the York Affinity to be the best with Rheem's mod second. Rheem also has a top notch warranty too. Carrier and Trane each make good furnaces as well, but damn they just cost so much more, but don't really offer much if anything more.

I have a hard time beleiving anyone would rate a york product as #1. A good solid inexpensive product, yes. But first overall, never!

I have a GCV90704 which I think is basically the same thing but a downflow.
It's been working perfectly for a year now in a 2000 sq ft ranch.

After reading so many positive posts, the Goodman is back on track to be the leading candidate at my house. Now I will have to compare it with 3 other contractors coming this week-end.

The York Affinity mod and it's Luxaire and Coleman counterparts is a very nice furnace and the only "truly" modulating furnace available.

Has the Rheem/Ruud mod been rated at 95% yet? If not, it is a really nice furnace that gets beat out for tax credits by a lot of otherwise lesser furnaces.

The Amana version of the Goodman manufactured furnace is a step above the GMV model with the stainless steel heat exchanger and lifetime replacement warranty.

I think if you look at the nomenclature, you'll see that Nordyne's Maytag and Westinghouse G7 line and IQ Drive line of gas furnaces are completely modulating.
All of these brands will do the job.... if they are put in right. You can buy the best and if its put in by a hack.... you've now got real expensive junk.

Could be that Nordyne came out with a true modulating furnace since I was at the York plant last year. The York/Luxaire/Coleman modulating furnace has 100 increments of modulation. I'm not really sure how much modulation is actually considered to be "real". According to Carrier, three stage is modulating.

It is my number 1. I have not had anything but great feedback from my customers on the Luxaire Modulating furnace (same as the York)

Most people say they do not ever even know it is running, it also has 10 years parts and lifetime heat exchanger warranty. I sell most with 5 or 10 year factory parts and labor.
