Hello, I am looking for some advance information so I can get bids on a small scope of work. My only knowledge on HVAC is Lieberts and other spot cooler machines in Corporate Data centers and me handing off BTU numbers, so really next to nothing.

I have a small 200 foot space in a detached garage space that we have converted into an office and large storage closet. New buildout space with Raised floor insulated walls and ceiling.

There is no way to get the vents from the main house out to the garage not that it would even be a good option. Is my only option a window ac unit and electric baseboard heat? I originally thought about looking at radiant heating and window ac but no water access.

I just want to do a little light reading on the options before I go out to get quotes on equipment/install so I can be a somewhat informed customer.

If geographical location matters I am in Atlanta for weather so while we don't have a major cold winter we always have solid strings of days that will be below freezing.

Thanks for any general comments.

I have to agree with HeyBob. Mini-Split Heat Pump is the way to go.

A PTAC (hotel room unit) would probably be cheaper if cost is prohibitive, but will be noisier than a mini-split.

You have several options, like stated before mini split heat pump system, you can get a window heat and a/c system, or ptac (wall unit like at hotels). It depends on how much you want to spend.
