Are 3 90 degree bends near the evaporator in a residential split system one to many? I know that each 90 degree bend is equivalent to 10 feet of straight pipe.

no, unless youve got 200' of lineset behind them. Most manufacturers allow around 200' of lineset for an ac.

the least amount of 90deg. you have is better for the system also follow refrigeration piping calculation guidelines for maximum capacity and proper oil returns.
