Well, the old freezer I picked up although having an adjustable stat would only go "up" to 20 degrees, not above 32 as I had hoped.

The more I look at it the more I think the box is too small anyway. My current thought is to build an add-on box big enough to hang 1 field dressed deer in (in case I don't have time to skin it first and need to get it chilling) with a cut-out in one wall for the what will be the door-less freezer to be inserted.

I want to maintain between 35 and 40 degrees in the add-on box and figure the freezer could handle this. Now then, I need a line voltage thermostat with setpoint in the neighborhood I'm talking. Figure I can leave the freezer as-is and control the power to the freezer through the 120V stat so as not to get the box too cold.

I have found a few online that would probably work but they are very pricey. Anyone know of a cheapy stat for this application? Other ideas? I intend to mount the stat on the far side (opposite the freezer) of the box up high.

thanks.

No DIY call a pro.

There's no fun in that.

Not trying to build a commercial refrigeration cooler. Just something cool my bow season deer and maybe age them a couple days. Only gonna be used a few days a year. Doesn't need to be fancy. Just functional.

Anyone else?

Sorry. Didn't realize that.

Found what I think will work fine though. Seems folks that are into brewing beer use these devices alot in almost the exact type of application I am in need of:

just try not to kill yourself, voltage is dangerous.
