I don't think it necessarily means she's a flake, depends party on what the reason is. Could be family related, she does have a Down's Syndrome baby, and the situation with her older daughters.

Or she may be pursuing something else in politics.

It will be interesting to find out why she's resigning.

With the political corruption in Alaska, especially within the Republican Party in that state, she just may be being threatened to quit. Remember, she ticked off a lot of Republicans when she took office. She cleaned house pretty well of Republican corruption and made a lot of enemies within her own party there in doing so.

My guess would be more that she is going to focus on preparing for a presidential run in 2012.

Not surprising to me. Never in the history of the USA has 90% of the media ganged up on a political figure who was not the subject of a corruption investgation.

In fact, Palin should have been the media darling with her anti political corruption decisions as Governor, but is the victim of media corruption.

Why launch an unsubstantiated personal attack on someone? Are you that miserable in insecure you have to belittle others to make yourself feel better?

Ok, let me ask you to name one other politician who isn't a "flake". Define "flake". I could make the point that people who launch unprovoked attacks against others is, indeed a flake themselves. How about the media wolves who distort the truth, obfuscate facts and destroy lives all just to make a name for themselves or promote an agenda? Are they flakes, too?

You have the right to your own choices for leadership. Just understand there are a lot of us out there that wake up everyday realizing the nightmare that is our current leadership and still can't imagine this hell we are stuck with.

Expressing your own political views is one thing. Attacking the person and not their politics is another. I can attack Obama's views and policies because of what he as admitted to and what they are doing. I do not attack him or his family personally.

Seriously, Palin has and had baggage coming into the Presidential race. Admittedly she was a fairly competent governor over the small populace of Alaska, but she definitely was not Presidential timber by any stretch of the imagination.

It maybe that Palin wants to start active opposition to Obomos leftist direction. She kind of hinted that in her press conference. We need someone to step up to the plate and loudly and actively oppose the socialist direction we are headed. Someone that will not let what is said about them cause them to back down but stand up for their views. She did it with Letterman.
